Dale R. DeYoung, 68, of Griffith, IN, formerly of South Holland,IL passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014. He is survived by his wife Karen (nee Lukesh); Father of Jeff (Chrissy) DeYoung, Shelly (Guillermo) Hernandez, Kathy (Kevin) Brummel, Kim (Chris) Porter, Chris (Kristin) DeYoung, Alexcia DeYoung and Michael DeYoung. Grandfather of 12 and Great Grandfather of 1. He is also survived by his brother, Glen. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Jacob and Fannie DeYoung. Fond friend of Bill W. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11 AM at Kish Funeral Home (Swets Funeral Service, Directors), 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. with Pastor Charlie Contreras and Pastor Ron Citlau, officiating. Burial Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. Visitation on Monday, December 22nd, 2014 from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Funeral Home. Dale was an Army Veteran and served his Country proudly in the Vietnam War. In lieu of flowers, donations to Elim Christian School would be appreciated.

What to Say?See Condolences

I am sorry for your loss. I pray the Lord will comfort you with his promises in the Word. 1 Thessalonians 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

My condolences to the family of Dale. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 (ESV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

I wish to add my condolences to the family of Dale. Dale and I were cousins and very close during elementary and High School. We both worked together in landscaping. We got separated when he went to Nam and I left the state to teach. I am glad I knew him and pray the peace of Christ be with you all.

I had the pleasure of working with Dale on a team at Faith Hammond, and participating in mini-church with both Dale and Karen. I enjoyed working alongside him, appreciated his insights, and loved his company. He will be missed.

Didn't know him very well, but he will be missed.

The first time I Met Dale at Faith Church I remember him being the one of the kindest men I have ever met. He was always that way thereafter. One of the best memories I have is the time spent at church and at Martha's wedding with him and Karen.Dale you will be missed by many. Prayers to the family go out to the family from the Slavins
