Hector A. Fernandez, Sr., age 82, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. He is survived by his children, Manuel (Daisy) Fernandez of Flower Mound, TX, Roy Fernandez of Merrillville, IN, Hector (Debbie) Fernandez, Jr. of Rochester, IN, Leticia (Craig Farmer) Fernandez of Leesburg, VA; daughter-in- law, Cathy Fernandez of Flower Mound, TX; step children, Christine Rock, Robert DeSoto Jr, Rebecca Quintanilla, Romana Stevenson, Cynthia Soto, and Linda Soto; grandchildren, Sandra, Martina, Isabella, Erika, Hector III (Chico), Victor, Joseph, Jason, Jesse, and Jared; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaiden, Bryson, Deacon, Dominic, Kalvin, Hayden, Edward, Summer, Madelynn, Otto, and Diego; siblings, Manuel (MeMe) Fernandez of Copperas Cove, TX, Ignacia (Nachy) Canchola of Hobart, IN, Aurelio (Mickey) Fernandez, of East Chicago, IN, Norberto (Beto) Fernandez of Monterrey, MX, and Linda Fernandez of Monterrey, MX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Ignacia Fernandez; and his wife, Antonia Fernandez. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be private. Visitation will be on Tuesday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. service. Hector was an avid golfer and Veteran of the U.S. Army. He will be dearly missed.

All of the mall walkers in Corpus Christi are missing Hector. He was always energetic and happy, quick to share photos of his grandchildren. He could out walk many younger people! May he Rest In Peace. Cindy Jackson

Hector was a close friend and golfing buddy. We would have breakfast together at Whataburger on Saratoga in Corpus Christi, Texas. I will miss him and express sorrow to his family.Don Patterson

I knew Hec as a golfing buddy and friend. We traded family details and I came to believe I knew many of his family members. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He will be missed not only by me, but many of our mutual friends. He was outgoing and friendly to all. I pray God will give each of the family his peace and grace.

Although our encounter was brief in this world, it was enough to know that your Dad was a kind, loving and honest man, a friend of man and truth. It is sad to hear of his death but we are certain that when it was time, God put his arms around him and lifted him to rest. Your Dad hasn‚Äôt traveled¬†far.....he has¬†just stepped inside God‚Äôs heavenly home. ¬†His life¬†on earth came to an end but he is claiming a great¬†reward in heaven‚Ä¶..an everlasting peace together with his Creator. He left behind many good teachings and memories that will comfort you¬†in the days to come. He also¬†touched lives¬†that perhaps he wasn‚Äôt even¬†aware¬†of but that made a difference. ¬†When we think of¬†the times that we were able to share with him it will always be with ¬†deep respect and admiration.Please accept our deepest condolences¬†and¬†we¬†pray that¬†God grant you the strength that you need during your time of sorrow

Mr. Fernandez was always the kindest most genuine man I ever met. He always made you feel at ease with his warm sweet smile. I know that he will forever be missed by those who loved him.
