Ida Schneider, 94, of Munster, IN formerly of Calumet City, IL and Lansing, IL passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne (David) Cox; son, Randall (Filomena) Darlak; grandchildren, Adrienne (Ricardo) Guerrero, Lawrence and Alyssa Darlak; great grandchildren, Olivia and Katherine Guerrero. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Darlak; daughter, Susan Zmuda; husbands, Melvin Darlak and Robert Schneider, Sr.Ida spent the majority of her employment years as an Executive Secretary for UHaul Corporation at their Lansing, IL and Hammond, IN locations. Upon retirement she spent 20 years in the Phoenix, AZ area with her second husband, Robert Schneider, enjoying ballroom dancing, travel and many other activities with the numerous friends they made while living there. Upon returning to the Calumet Region in 2005, Ida lived for 11 years at Hartsfield Village Independent Living and Assisted Living. While there she enjoyed participating in their many activities and making new friends. During her years residing in the Calumet Region, Ida was a parishioner of St.Victor Church in Calumet City, St. Ann Church in Lansing, IL and St. Maria Goretti Church in Dyer, IN.Visitation will be on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2:00-6:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 9:15-10:00 am at Queen of All Saints Basilica with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:00 am. Queen of All Saints Basilica is located at 6280 Sauganash Ave. Chicago, IL. Interment will be private.The family would like to thank the staff at Hartsfield Village for their dedicated support and friendship extended to their mother during her 11 years of residence. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to the caretakers from Comfort Keepers, especially Kimberly and Cynthia, for their loving care and assistance. And also to Pam and Lana, Eucharistic Ministers, for their weekly visits to bring Communion and spiritual support. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ida’s memory to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607, would be appreciated.
