Jose Guadalupe \”Lupe\” Garcia, 71, of Mission, Texas, succumbed to cancer at Lee Manor in Des Plaines, IL surrounded by his family on January 22, 2015. He is the son of the late Carolina Berrera and Aniceto Garcia. Lupe is survived by his two daughters: Natalie (Ben) Ruzicka, Camille (Mike) Simon; four grandchildren: Michael, Ethan, Brandon, and Blake. He has fourteen brothers and sisters: the late Larry Garcia, the late Ruby Espino, the late Ray Garcia (Meg Deleon ), the late Eddie (the late Zelda) Garcia, the late Andy (Linda) Garcia, Mary (the late Clifford) Scarberry, Mary Ellen Zamarria, Mary Lou Urbina, RB Garcia, Gilbert Garcia, Estela (Eddie) Cortes, Neri (Bill) Oliver, Don (Oneida) Garcia, Gloria (George) Good; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Lupe was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all.After his dedicated Army service to his country, Lupe worked as a courier for several years while living in Chicago Heights, IL. Some of his favorite activities, outside of being an avid crossword puzzler, were umpiring Little League in Lynwood, IL, bowling, taking vacations to Las Vegas, and visiting with his friends and family. In 1994, Lupe moved back to his home state of Texas where he enjoyed horseback riding, golfing, dove hunting, and playing dominos with his neighborhood pals. Funeral services for Lupe will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet, IL on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM with full military honors.
