After a long valiant struggle, Nancy Jean (nee Machnikowski) Cortopassi, succumbed to cancer on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Nancy enjoyed carnivals, bowling, miniature golf, ice skating and fishing. She loved life and she loved people. Nancy passed as she lived, with a smile on her face. She is survived by her husband, Carl Cortopassi, inseparable since 1966; daughter, Natalie Ann Erick; grandson, Austin, mother; Irene Machnikowski; brother, Leonard (Janice) Machnikowski; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, from her employment and retirement at Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Machnikowski. Funeral Services will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Friday, at the funeral home, from 3:00 p.m. until the 8:00 p.m. Come not to mourn Nancy but to celebrate her life, as she touched the heart of many. In lieu of flowers, a modest contribution to the family toward final expenses would be appreciated.

CARL - Sorry I cannot be there - recovering from a hernia repair surgery on May16th @ Univ of Chgo Hosp - with catheter insertion to prevent urinary blockage as possible side effect from enlarged prostate cancer radioactive seeding about 12 years ago.

Nancy was always so caring of others, as far back as when we were 8 yrs old. I remember being at her house back in high school and learning the Simon & Garfunkel song "Sound of Silence", we always had such a good time. I can still picture her in that sweet bridesmaid dress and lace head-piece at my wedding. She loved her family very much and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. She is at rest now and in our Lord's loving arms, where she can be happy again and without pain or suffering. I look forward to seeing her again one day. May God bless and keep you all in His care.

Nancy will be missed she was a very sweet soft spoken person I always enjoyed our Christmas Eves we had at our home the last two years ago with Carl Natalie and her grandson. My deepest sympathy and prayers to all. Aunt Sue
