On Wednesday, May 17, there will be a visitation at 9:30 am and mass at Saint Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN.Ralph was born in Chicago, IL and attended Bishop Noll Institute where he would meet Barbara, his wife of 44 years. He continued on to receive a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Indiana State University. Ralph found his calling in the health and safety field. His passion is evidenced by the recognition he received on a national level as a highly respected expert in his field. Ralph’s true source of pride and devotion was his ever flourishing family. Ralph and Barbara raised five children, Olivia, Ralph (Allison), Alexander (Lidiya), Emilia and Maximilian (Brea). His love for his family will only be matched by the incredible amount of inspiration and admiration his family feels toward him. He was the adored grandfather to his six grandchildren, Emmerson, Felix, Elena, Alexander, Quincy and Leonardo. Grandpa always got the first hugs and playtime with Grandpa couldn’t last long enough. They shared a common bond of “Three Stooges” antics and sweet treats. Ralph lived every moment with an unmatched work ethic. He enjoyed being first in the office and never wanted yard work to wait another day. He had a spontaneous sense of humor that would always appear at the right time. Year after year, he was unwavering in his love/hate commitment to his Chicago Cubs. His years of coaching from the stands finally paid off when his Cubs won the World Series in 2016. Ralph had a fondness for history and loved to collect interesting memorabilia from World War II, the 50's and 60’s, and Chicago sports. He will be remembered for his dapper fashion sense and extensive collection of shirts marking every decade he was alive. His only earthly frustration may have been a never ending quest for the perfect haircut. Ralph touched the lives of the countless people he met through the years. In lieu of flowers, we know that Ralph would want you to “think good thoughts” and remember the wonderful memories you have of the special times you spent with him and then get out, enjoy the weather and wash your car or cut the grass!
