William P. Kvasnica, Sr., 91, of Munster, IN passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nita; son, William (Angela) Kvasnica, Jr.; daughter, Karen (Joseph) Grenda; grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew and Kevin; nieces, Ann Marie Bogusz, Geraldine Kmetz, and Judie (Charles) Gorney, in-laws Henryetta (Steve) Massack, Cecil (Sharon) Ford, and numerous loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael; parents, Joseph and Anna Kvasnica; brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Edward Kvasnica; sisters, Cecilia Zuklin and Mary Skalba. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2:00-7:00 pm with a prayer service at 2:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Monday from 10:30-11:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Bill is a 1943 graduate of Whiting High School and served with the Navy on the U.S.S. Lexington during WWII. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church and Ushers Club. Bill was a member of VFW 2697 in Munster, IN who will hold a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm on Sunday and American Legion Post 80 in Whiting, IN. He retired from Pipefitters Local 597 and enjoyed membership in the Standard Oil Annuitants. Since building his house in 1957, Bill and Nita have been lifelong residents of Munster. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Honor Flight (www.honorflight.org), Humane Society of the Calumet Area or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org) in his memory would be appreciated.
