Grace Mary Radowski (nee Sierzega), 67, went to her heavenly reward on September 5th, 2014, while courageously recovering from a severe stroke she suffered over 2 and a half years ago. Grace is survived by Dennis \”Butch\” Radowski, her best friend and loving husband of more than 42 years. She is also survived by her daughters, who she called her \”three rosebuds\”: Cecily (David) Ciesla, Christa (Nick) Siorek, and Sarah Radowski; three siblings, Greg (Pat) Sierzega, Pam (Rich McCann) Dowling, and Ron (Laurie Eschbach) Sierzega; her four grandchildren, Preston Leo, 9, Tanner Grace, 8, Owen Chester, 6, and Zoey Grace, 2; her brother-in-law, Ken Radowski; her special Aunt, Jeanie Ludwin, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Cecilia Sierzega. Born February 17th, 1947, Grace grew up on the southeast side of Chicago, where she attended St. Mary Magdalene for grammar school, followed by Mercy High School. She also attended and graduated from Illinois State University, Bloomington-Normal. Grace had been a Hammond resident since 1976. A devout Roman Catholic, she had been a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Hammond for almost 40 years, rarely missing mass on Sunday or any holy day of obligation. Grace had worked nearly 20 years for The Hammond Times, managing a district of newspaper carriers and delivering her own route. During that time, Grace assisted numerous carriers in obtaining Hammond Times scholarships to help defray their college expenses. She had worked 12 years as a sales clerk at Ultra Foods, Highland. She also had been the owner of Creative Touch Ceramics, teaching the fine art of as well as producing specialty ceramic items for local gift stores. An avid reader of mystery novels, Grace loved Agatha Christie and Janet Evanvich, among others. She was known to check out numerous novels from the Hammond Library on a weekly basis. She was the biggest fan of Leonardo DiCaprio and Josh Groban. She enjoyed and supported her children's activities and endeavors, participating to her fullest extent, including Girl Scouts and Woodmar Baseball. She was a member of Gavit's Adult Booster Club, and never missed any of the school's dramatic or musical productions. She spent countless hours playing bingo at the church with her dear friend, Donna Plebanski. She loved road trips with her husband Butch, especially to Wisconsin Dells during the fall, and to visit her \”Flamily\”, the Vliegentharts. Grandma Grace loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She will be dearly missed. Friends and relatives may visit with Grace's family from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14th at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster. Visitation will be Monday, September 15th, 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond. 10:00 a.m. mass to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to her family would be much appreciated.
