Mario R. Del Sangro, 85, of Dyer, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Renata. Loving father of Mario Del Sangro, Nicola ‚ÄúNick‚Äù (Dawn) Del Sangro and Linda Tomasello, proud grandfather of Brianna, Julia, Nicholas and Alex Del Sangro, caring brother of Giuseppe Del Sangro, and cherished 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Erminio Del Sangro and sister, Carmelitana DiFiore.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home in Munster, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 9:00 am at the funeral home with a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, Indiana. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Indiana.Mario was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church. He retired from Acme Steel after 29 years of service and enjoyed his time having his family closeby. His joys in life included spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, gardening, and playing music. He leaves a legacy of friendship crossing the globe from Canada, France, Italy and beyond.

Zio Mario R. Del Sangro was a great man of integrity and a great artist. Beautiful Memories in Montenero, the scent of a fresh pine tree brought by Zio Mario and Zio Erminio at Christmas will never be forgotten. Our Zio Mario was a great musician, we recorded his music with(Celeste, Getulio, Giulio and Mario Scalzitti) in our home in Toronto, Canada and Chicago.Every Thanksgiving we displayed his wooden turkey that he gave us.
