Dear Barbara, Mary, Jamie, Julie and the entire Merlo Family.I was so very saddened to learn of your father's sudden passing. Jim was my "favorite" brother-in-law. However, the feeling of "favorite" was not mutual as he was always kidding me about my sister Anne being his "favorite" sister-in-law and that he liked " Anne BEST". Jim had a great sense of humor and loved joking around and laughing at his own comments. He was a joy to be around. I will always be grateful to Jim for his influence in my late husband's (Jan L. Silagi, DDS. MSD. aka Uncle Jan) decision to become a dentist. Barb, Jim and baby Barb would visit often when we were in El Paso, Texas, and Jim was in the Air Force stationed in Tucson, Arizona. My children, Steve (Silagi) and Holly (Silagi Clark) and I have the fondest memories of Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Barbara and the Merlo girl cousins visiting us in Galveston, Texas and El Paso, Texas and. all those frequent shopping trips to Mexico that Aunt Barbara made while visiting. We especially remember the motor home trip into Mexico and the trips to Ruidoso. New Mexico. Lot of memories and lots of laughs. Please know that you Dad will be greatly missed by our family. We loved your Mom and Dad and we love you and your families. May God Bless each of you and give you the strength to "BE STRONG" in this time of great sorrow.Love, Aunt Shirley and Ben (Asdell)Steven (Silagi) and FamilyHolly (Clark) and Family

All of us have lost one of the finest dental practitioners in Chicagoland. I remember his first office in the Calumet National Bank Building in downtown Hammond later moving to Munster and Chicago. His hands were soft and caring, his passion was to get every job done right. Dr. Jim and his family will always be in our prayers.
