Elizabeth Rowland, 77, of Lansing, IL passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Willard; daughters, Barbara (Gerald) Erskine and Linda (Jeff) Kelnosky; grandchildren, Riley and Jillian; brothers, George (Helen) Oklok, Bob (Carol) Oklok and Sam Blagovich; sisters-in-law, Joanne (late Robert) Childs, Betty (late Ron) Rowland, Joyce (late Bill) Foss and Mania Oklok; preceded in death by her parents, Spiro and Mildred Oklok, brother, Mike Oklok and sisters, Lucille Popovich and Geri Hare. Elizabeth was a lifetime member of the Lansing Historical Society where she organized many fundraisers every year including the annual Antique, Art and Craft Show. She received the Medal of Merit in 1984 from Congressman George O’Brien for her community service work with Lansing schools, PTA, Moose Charities, First United Methodist Church, brownies & girl scouts and working with special education children. She worked part time at John Hancock Financial Services for 17 years. After their retirement, she and her husband loved to travel and volunteer at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Lansing. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be on Friday at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 18420 Burnham Ave, Lansing, IL. Interment will be on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 11:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or charity of your choice in her memory.
